In an interview with Digital Spy, Dark Souls publisher Namco Bandai confirmed it is very interested in porting notorious action-RPG Dark Souls to mobile.

Dark Souls developer From Software, however, is worried about the changes that would be necessary for a touchscreen adaptation of its game.

"We'd like to bring Dark Souls to mobile, but it's very difficult because the guys at From Software are very much console oriented. To change their mind about it, it takes quite a while," Namco Bandai director of global strategy for mobile Alex Adjaj said.

Adjaj stressed that a mobile version of Dark Souls is not an impossibility, though. Provided some changes to the control method are made.

"I think there is a need to redesign the way you reroll in the game to make it a bit more casual, so with shorter sessions," Adjaj explained. "But definitely it's something we could bring to mobile in a very successful way."

Vita?

On the same theme, Dark Souls producer Takeshi Miyazoe recently downplayed the prospect of a Vita port of the RPG.

"It's not a handheld game, because of the network functionality," Miyazoe said.

A shame, for sure. Still, here's hoping that the game may one day surface on mobile.
