Danmaku: Wyver Ultra, the latest entry in the shoot-em-up sci-fi series, reveals more gameplay

After being announced over a year ago, Doragon Entertainment’s shoot-em-up Danmaku Unlimited: Wyver Ultra has revealed a little bit more of its gameplay, alongside a sneak peek at the title screen. All of these clips and insider looks come courtesy of the official Twitter account of developer Sunny Tam, who posted quite a bit about the game.

Danmkau Unlimited is a pretty well-known bullet hell/shoot-em-up series at this point and has stayed a mainstay within libraries of fans of the genre. All of them see you take your place within a sci-fi world full of lasers, spaceships, and giant mechs, as you pursue different goals depending on the entry by taking part in the classic arcade experience that bullet hells love to emulate. Danmaku has always featured some incredible anime-like over-the-top visuals, with bullets coming from every part of the screen and giant laser swords, huge shields, and so on. It’s all very reminiscent of sci-fi anime like the legendary Gundam or Space Battleship Yamato, harkening to that sort of visual flair.

Judging by the gameplay clip above, Danmaku Unlimited: Wyver Ultra seems to be no different in that regard, as we see giant Japanese text take over part of the screen as you swing a massive laser through the enemies in front of you. It all looks very pretty, with some lovely explosion effects in there as well.

These games are always challenging as well, usually requiring the utmost of your reflexive skills to progress at a good pace. I highly doubt Wyver Ultra will turn this down, so be ready to truly break your fingers as you dodge and weave between incoming projectiles.

If that sounds like your bag, then stay tuned for more updates on Wyver Ultra as it hopefully gets a release date soon. Until then, check out the previous entry into the series at the links below!
