Ludigames is giving a whole new meaning to "death by cute" in Cute Invasion, the aptly titled shooter where you're tasked with fending off the titular invasion before the cuteness takes over you. Yes, it's pretty much a dark twist on the supposedly "cute" visitors you've got over at your cosy Shadow World - they're all smiling, but they'll overwhelm you with relentless waves of attacks if you ever let your guard down.
What's interesting to me is that it seems like you've got a good set of choices when it comes to how you'll fend off said invasion - there's your average bullet-filled projectile, but you've also got what looks like rainbow-coloured cupcakes you can hurl at your foes. Kill them with kindness, as they say, after all.
Dark, eerie, and with a touch of whimsy, the backgrounds where you'll shoot your way through the Cuties add to the chilling juxtaposition here. Thankfully, you can use this kind of environment to look for terrain traps to help you with your kill.
