  • CrisisX has announced its official release date for Q2 2026
  • It has also released a brand-new trailer for Gamescom, offering a closer look at gameplay
  • You can look forward to making everything from a shiny assault rifle to a tank

If you've been hankering for more zombie-slaying and base-building action, then you can relax. Because CrisisX, the upcoming open-world survival-crafter from Hero Games, now has an official release window. Q2 2026 is set for the launch of CrisisX on mobile and other platforms, and the announcement comes alongside a new trailer especially for Gamescom.

CrisisX, as you might expect from the description, mixes many of the mechanics we've seen in the open-world survival genre. Aside from scavenging loot and slaying all manner of zombies and mutants, you'll also gather resources to build a base, survive and thrive.

And while the latest Gamescom trailer gives us more of what we've already seen, the latest info from behind the scenes is especially intriguing. With even armoured vehicles like the M2 Bradley or M4 Sherman (yes, the WW2 tank) on the cards for especially well-equipped players.

While Once Human has made a big splash and proved that NetEase can deliver a satisfying experience for a cross-platform audience, CrisisX may also have a potential niche to exploit, with a much more 'realistic' (for what it's worth) setting and familiar weaponry and equipment that stand out compared to the pseudo-magic of Once Human.

Add to that the typical survival gameplay of managing thirst, hunger and health, and the seemingly 'sky's the limit' nature of what you'll be able to make, and I've no doubt many of you are already chomping at the bit to get your hands on CrisisX and see if it stands up to scrutiny.

Well, if you need a way to tide yourself over ahead of 2026, why not check out some of our lists for popular alternatives? We've ranked the best survival games on iOS for some of our top picks, ranging from the wild and arcadey to grim and gritty.
