Crash Bandicoot: On The Run due for shutdown in only a few months

The endless runner Crash Bandicoot: On The Run, based on the classic platformer series of the same title, is officially shutting down after less than two years of service. Posted on the game’s official Facebook account, this announcement comes with the news that the game will be taken off storefronts on February 16th, 2023.

As per usual with these sorts of articles, it’s important to recognise that regardless of if the game was big or successful or whatnot, it’s always a bummer to see games get taken off storefronts, especially after launching such a minuscule amount of time before. The removal of a game that could potentially entice new players but will no longer be able to is always sad news, but alas, that’s the way it goes sometimes.

And also in the same vein as other shutdowns, there’s not a lot of reason here aside from likely not succeeding as much as it originally seemed like it might have. The game received a decent amount of updates and love from the developers, but it seems like the player base just wasn’t enough to support the game.

Unfortunately, given that this one has not been put out anywhere but on mobile devices, this shutdown also means that Crash Bandicoot: On The Run will not be playable in any way once it is removed as well.

Regardless, in-game purchases have been entirely turned off already ahead of time. The game was a free-to-play title, so this means that there’s no potential for new income to keep the game alive. Still, it isn’t due for shutdown for a few more months, so you can still currently download it and give it a go before it’s gone for good!
