Crash Bandicoot: On the Run, King's free-to-play runner, is seemingly soon set to launch for iOS & Android

Remember back in February when a Crash Bandicoot mobile game was suddenly leaked? Well, it looks like western players will finally be able to get their hands on it; that's if a small tease on the game's official Twitter account is anything to go by (ta, Eurogamer).

Crash Bandicoot: On the Run, as it's known, is a good-looking runner from developer King that also packs in some base-building elements for good measure. It sees Crash and sister Coco team up once again to take on the nefarious Doctor Neo Cortex and put an end to his multiverse-destroying plot.

The game actually soft-launched for Android back in April, though a King rep soon reached out to confirm that it was more of a small-scale test available to select users in Malaysia. During that time, we put out a handy guide on all the tips and tricks you need to get started.

With it being a runner, you'll spend your time racing through various levels while collecting handy wumpa fruit and bashing Cortex's minions straight back to their own dimension. Along the way, you're sure to bump into infamous bosses from the mainline games, such as Dingodile, Scorporilla, Mutagen Ant, and Nitrus Brio.

Familiar levels will also pop up throughout the campaign, from Turtle Woods to the Lost City, each with alternate routes to explore and secrets to find. As I say, there's also a base-building element to it where you'll help to assemble Coco's base of operations in order to unlock new weapons and items.

I'm sure it'll be a very polished free-to-play runner, and Crash games have found huge success on mobile in the past, though I do wonder if that'll be enough to make it an interesting proposition for long-time Crash fans.

If you're interested, you'll find more info over on the game's Google Play page, and we'll be sure to let you know once a firm release date is announced.
