7 tips for Cats and Soup to progress fast (F2P-friendly)

I started playing Cats and Soup as soon as I found it, and I fell in love with the game right away. After playing it for a pretty long time, I've decided to share some of my Cats and Soup tips with the rest of you, and answer some questions as well.
Since the game is quite F2P-friendly, there is not much use spending real money (unless you want to, of course), because in time, you will max everything out. You just need patience.
So with these tips, I will share what I recommend is best you invest in, how you can best spend the Gems that you have, and how you can maximise your profits from the stations. It's all pretty simple, but there are a few "hidden" features that you might not have noticed yet, especially if you are a new player.
I also shared some Cats and Soup codes in a different article, so if you want to get your hands on some freebies, check them out.
After you start playing, you might wonder (sooner or later) - should you save up your coins or upgrade your buildings? I've got the answer to that and to more dilemmas you might have when playing this game, and shared them all below.
With these Cats and Soup tips, I hope you will manage to create the cat oasis of your dreams and dress up these little creatures with the right outfits. Because yes, there is a right way to dress up your cats in case you did not know.
You don't have to spend money to enjoy the game and max out
I mentioned this briefly before, but let me state it again - in Cats and Soup, you don't need to spend money. You can spend some if you want to purchase the exclusive Shops, but they aren't all that worth it, unless you want them for aesthetic reasons. The one thing you could spend money on if you really want to is to go ad-free. That could help you get some extra rewards without having to spend time watching ads. But even these options are time-limited (7 days or 30 days), so it's up to you.
That being said, the Seasonal Limited and Special Limited items are stunning, but they are not really worth it in financial terms. They are beautiful decoration pieces, but since you can max out everything in due time, the bonuses you get from them are not justified in the long run.
So, now that we've covered one of the hot topics, it's time to check out some actual tips for Cats and Soup!
1
Tip #1 - Always upgrade your buildings first

If your goal is to make lots of Gold, then you should always make sure that you upgrade the buildings (aka facilities) you place. All the stations give you increased earnings per item sold, and if you're thinking of saving your Gold to buy the next building instead of spending it on upgrades, you should reconsider.
The more you upgrade, the more Gold you make. So, by the time you finish a few upgrades, you will be able to make all your Gold back and then some.
Cats and Soup is essentially an idle game, so you can't exactly "max out" and buy everything the first time you open the game. You need to spend a lot of time since the buildings can be upgraded to level 1000 (I think, but I am not quite there yet, so I can't confirm).
Therefore, spend all your money on the facility upgrades and you'll find yourself making lots of Gold quickly.

Tip #2 - Take part in limited events

Limited events are various events that appear in the game every now and again, and they last for a limited period of time. You want to take part in them as often as you can because you can get tons of exclusive items like outfits, Gems and other useful items.
As someone who is all about collecting everything (especially outfits) in most of the games I play, this is something I definitely don't want to miss. Just like with the promo codes I shared in the beginning, you wouldn't want to miss those either.
Sometimes, the dev shares some cool events on social media too, so that's something extra for you to take note of to stay up-to-date on all things Cats and Soup.

Tip #3 - Equip your cats with the right outfits

Now that we briefly mentioned outfits before, we should talk about their use, right?
Each outfit piece comes with a "secret" effect. It's actually not that secret, but if you've always thought that they're purely cosmetic, you would be wrong. Outfits can have effects that boost your recipe prices or blending prices (like Blending Juice, Cutting Cabbage, and so on). You can also get the Hammock effect increased and so much more.
You should always pay attention to the outfit effects, and equip the cats you want to place on a certain facility with the right outfit. Having a cat with a skill boost on that facility's feature will also help, so try pairing them well every time. I know that you'll want to make the correct aesthetic choice most of the time, but if your aim is to make upgrades quickly, then this is the way to go.

Tip #4 - How to spend your Gems

Gems are the premium currency in Cats and Soup, and if you remember me mentioning in the beginning that the game is fairly F2P-friendly, this is where it comes into play.
You don't need to spend Gems on anything other than outfits. Essentially, you can spend them in the Observatory to change a cat's skill in an attempt to get a better one - this is good too unless you already have cats that have the right skills.
So, to sum up, the only two features worth spending your Gems on are:
- Observatory (for changing the cats' skills)
- Treasure chest (for outfits)
I recommend that you try to get a few outfits - ideally one for all your cats - since you can really use the boosts for all the facilities and recipes.

Tip #5 - Don't be afraid to use the Observatory

The Observatory is the building where you can do one of four things:
- Random search (finds you a new look and skill for a cat)
- Find a different look (change the look of a cat - make it a different breed)
- Find a different skill (change a cat's skill while maintaining their appearance)
- Change into a custom look (change a cat's appearance to a set one depending on what ticket you have)
I recommend you save up some tickets for the Observatory since you can get tickets from various sources, such as codes and events. You can use the tickets, and if you really need to spend Gems, you can do that too.
The best thing you can do is get a couple of cats with a high skill for a certain task and use them to farm. These can help get your most profitable recipes sold, and it could be worth the few Gems you spend.
As for the looks, they are all adorable (no argument there, I believe), so you don't have to spend your currency on that unless you have some extra - or if you want a certain look on a feline.

Tip #6 - Watch ads to get additional rewards

Ads are usually not a thing to look forward to in games, but in Cats and Soup, they hit slightly differently. Here, you don't have to watch an ad unless you want to, and when you see the generous rewards you can get, you will want to watch all the ads possible.
However, if you don't really want to spend time unnecessarily on ads, there are a few that are worth it, and you shouldn't skip:
- Treasure chest free attempts (free outfits)
- Free gems (from the shop)
- Fairy Jar (it IS worth it)
- Presents
- Event rewards/currency
You can watch ads for a lot of features, such as doubling your income for selling recipes, passive income, you name it - even for changing your look, should you so wish. I would argue that if you don't have the time or you're not in the mood to watch everything, you shouldn't. The ones I listed here are the only ones that are worth your time.
Do feel free to watch all of them if you feel like it, but I believe doing it on a daily basis is a waste of time.

Tip #7 - How to get Gold fast in Cats and Soup

There is no easy way of putting this, but there is just one surefire method to make a lot of Gold in Cats and Soup. Many players who like idle games are concerned with this at first, but here, the only thing you can do is to invest.
The more Gold you spend on upgrades, the more Gold you will make, and therefore you'll be able to get even better upgrades. You can do a few more things to get Gold, and alongside all the other tips I shared here (specifically watching an ad), you should do all of them to an extent:
- Tap on the hot air balloon
- Take a photo of the cat requesting that (some cats ask you to take photos of them, and they'll give you some Gold)
- Open the Fairy Jar and watch an ad for A LOT of Gold.
- Selling dishes
- Claw machine (if you're lucky)
Of course, you can also buy Gold with Gems, but that is far from worth it. The amounts are too low to matter.
Since the only sure way to make Gold is to spend Gold and upgrade your facilities, just focus on that and in due time, you will have everything upgraded. Enjoy this adorable game as much as possible in the meantime!
