Catan: The Seafarers sailing towards mobile
Settling down in August
The first expansion pack for the classic German boardgame Settlers of Catan is making its way over to mobile soon courtesy of Exozet Games.
Unlike the cardboard cousin, Catan: The Seafarers doesn’t require the original Catan mobile game to play, so you don’t have to worry if you missed out on the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning game the first time around.
The main difference between Seafarers and vanilla Catan is the presence of extra islands away from the main one that contain more of the vital resources needed to build up towns.
Naturally, this makes the shoreline locations more strategically valuable and helps reduce those ‘trapped in’ situations that often arise in four-player games where one person gets hemmed in behind the longest road.
The new title comes with a whole new Story mode for single-player, as well as both hot-seat and Bluetooth multiplayer modes, and a helpful tutorial for those new to the game.
In keeping with the international appeal of the boardgame, Catan: The Seafarers will be available in English, German, Spanish, and French some time in August.
