Castle War: Idle Island's Christmas update introduces a new weapon and festive cosmetics

Since it's the festive season, plenty of games are running Christmassy events and Plug In Digital's Castle War: Idle Island is the latest to throw its Santa hat into the ring. It coincides with a brand-new update that's appropriately called Santa's Castle. The event itself will run from December 22nd to January 3rd.

The festive event will see the return of Gauntlet mode. In this game variant, you will need to take on several enemies in a row without taking time to rebuild your castle in between. It's a true test of endurance, essentially, that should put all of your skills to the test.

Elsewhere, the Santa's Castle update introduces a new weapon, the Mortar. While that might not sound particularly Christmassy, the other additions fit the bill. You will also find Christmas-themed decorations and projectile customisation. Elsewhere, you can pick up the Winter Island theme for one diamond. With the exception of the Mortar, everything else mentioned in this paragraph is only available during the event.

If you're unfamiliar with the game, it tasks you with building a castle before launching an attack on another player's fortress. The battles play out automatically, so the strategy comes in how well you set everything up beforehand. As expected, you can upgrade castles using the resources you collect. There is also a big focus on making a unique castle, with the customisation panel promising enough options to design it however you want.

Castle War: Idle Island is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases. You can download it for free using either of the links below.
