If you're on the hunt for a new RPG to sink hours upon hours into, we're on hand to provide you a little guidance on how to best begin your adventure in Calibria: Crystal Guardians.

1
Pick yourself a team captain

It's extremely helpful to start the game by choosing a hero to act as your 'main' captain. This will allow you to clear the main stages more quickly. Some good candidates for this include Joan, Lich King, Spider Queen and Loki.

Other, lesser heroes can then be sacrificed to enhance your main character further. For example, to enhance a 3-star hero you will need to sacrifice 3, 3-star characters. Two good, disposable heroes for this exact purpose are Windwalker and Imp.

2
Know the value of cats

In Calibria: Crystal Guardians there are three feline variants to make note of. The first is Ascension Cats, who can increase your heroes' star level by being fed to them. Don't do this with reckless abandon though, instead enhance the cats themselves before giving them to your hero to make the most of their ascending powers.

Meanwhile, the Skill Cats can level up a skill of a chosen hero if they're sacrificed while enhancing or ascending that character. They are very valuable so it's best to only use them for your more powerful 4 or 5-star heroes.

Rounding out the feline trio we have EXP Cats. As the name implies, these grant huge amounts of experience to your heroes. The ideal way to use them when you're just starting out is to sink them into your main hero to make them as strong as possibly more quickly.

3
Become the Taskmaster

When you first start Crystal Guardians there will be a plethora of tasks for you to complete. It's definitely worth your time to focus on doing as many of these as possible. Doing so will net you a host of rewards that can be spent on summoning new heroes or enhancing and evolving your existing roster.

4
Hit the hills for experience

EXP Cats can only go so far and at some stage, you'll need to find a good spot to farm experience. The best place for this is Blackpool Hills and as you progress further you'll also be able to clear this area on the tougher difficulty settings – hard and hell – which will earn you even more experience.

5
Call upon your allies

If you have any friends that play the game, you'll be able to use the Unlimited Assists feature. This allows you to add one of your pal's heroes into your squad for the main stages or the Catacombs. Naturally then, if they possess a very powerful character it'll make clearing tougher battles much easier.

6
When you're ready, tackle the Colossus and Leviathan Stages

Once you've got to grips with all of the above and have completed a good number of tasks you should be able to tackle the Colossus and Leviathan Stages. There you'll be able to obtain high star level runes that can make your team even stronger. After that, your next goal should be to take on the Chimera world boss, Vapor Dreamland, Spire and Arena. If you're yet to try Calibria: Crystal Guardians you can download it for free over on the App Store and Google Play.
