Glu bringing Codemasters' console cricket sim to phones

Brian Lara Cricket slogs onto your mobile

Y'know what? We don't even want to hear about any cool new cricket sims. Especially if they include Australia captain Ricky Ponting. Cricket is rubbish. And we didn't really care about winning the Ashes anyway. Bah.

Okay, so our sour grapes over England going 3-0 down to the Aussies with no way back may just be blinding us to the merits of Glu's upcoming game Brian Lara International Cricket 2007. On a happier day, we'd doubtless be more excited about it being the first time Codemasters' console cricket sim has appeared on phones.

We'd be rhapsodising about the fact that you'll be able to play in knockout tournaments, one-day internationals, a World Series challenge (no, not baseball) and a scenario mode starring Lara and Ponting.

We'd be jumping for joy at the news that the game will also feature the Hawk-Eye technology for proper over-by-over analysis. And we'd be wildly speculating about whether the new game can replace current PG faves Michael Vaughan Cricket 06/07 or Freddie Flintoff All Round Cricket 06/07 as top mobile slog 'em up.

As it is, we're just going to sit here looking grumpy, boycotting Neighbours and deleting-on-sight any emails or texts from Aussie mates. But hopefully by next spring, when the game comes out, we'll have recovered our sunny spirits.
