Bloons TD Battles 2 gameplay tips

Every map has a unique track that balloons (aka Bloons) travel on. During every round, the same amount of Bloons will automatically spawn on both sides. Whenever one of them reaches the end of the track, the player on that side will lose a certain amount of life points. Both players start the game with 150 and, the first to lose all of their life points loses the battle.

Players can attack each other by purchasing different types of Bloons, which will then spawn on their opponent's track. To defend themselves, players can use their income to buy towers and place them on their side map. These towers will automatically attack Bloons with a variety of moves, based on their type.

What you should know about Towers?

In BTDB2, towers are known as 'Monkeys'. There are 22 different monkeys currently in the game, and each one has its own unique characteristics, based on its category. There are four different monkey categories:

  • Primary
  • Military
  • Magic
  • Support

Monkeys can learn new skills by using the XP they earn from battles. Higher tier skills cost a lot more XP though. These skills can then be used during battle, by upgrading Monkeys with gold.

Out of the 3 different skills each monkey has, only up to 2 skills can be upgraded with gold in battle.

Another type of special, very powerful tower is 'Heroes', which were first introduced in Bloons TD 6. At the moment, there are 4 Heroes available.

  • Quincy
  • Gwendolin
  • Striker Jones
  • Obyn Greenfoot

Unlike monkeys, hero towers automatically level up during battle.

Before the game starts, players can select one Hero and 3 Monkey towers to use in battle.

Everything you need to know about Bloons

As we mentioned above, whenever a Bloon reaches the end of the track, the player on that side of the map will lose life points. The amount of life points vary, depending on Bloon type. Red Bloon, which is the lowest tier, will cause one point of damage, and it takes a single hit to pop it.

In order to destroy a blue Bloon, which is the next tier, it takes two hits. If a blue Bloon reaches the end of the track, it will cause two points of damage to the player's life. The higher tier a Bloon is, the more damage it will cause and, it requires more hits to destroy it. Also, high-tier Bloons can be resistant to a certain type of attack.

How do you generate income?

During battle, players will generate a certain amount of currency over time. In BTDB2, that rate is called 'Eco'. In order to raise their eco production, players must send Bloons to their enemies. By using Bloon Sends, players can maximize their eco. In general, lower-tier Bloons will increase eco, while higher tier ones might result in a penalty.

Bloons TD Battles 2 Tips to get you started

  • During the early stages, you'll find yourself struggling against players with higher-level towers. That is normal though and there's not much you can do about it. Instead, focus on levelling up your towers by farming XP while you save your cash.
  • Stick with Quincy hero at the start, at least until you are able to obtain some magic monkeys such as the 'Alchemist'. Once you acquire that tower, start upgrading its skills. 'Berserker Brew' is a powerful skill. By that time, you can switch to Gwendolin if you want.
  • Bomb Shooter and Tack Shooter can be very useful towers, especially once you upgrade them above tier 3.
  • If you are able to purchase the battle-pass, you should, as it will help you tremendously with levelling up faster. With that being said, even without it, just keep battling. Even if you lose a game, you still earn XP and some money.
  • That's all we have in our Bloons TD Battles 2 beginners guide! We hope you'll find these tips useful, and that they'll help you reach new ranks!

About Bloons TD Battles 2

Similar to its predecessor, BTDB2 is a fast-paced, 1 vs 1 tower defense game. Its gameplay, even though relatively simple, it requires a lot of strategy and fast decision-making. Players battle head to head on a vertically split map. The first one to make their opponent lose all of their life points is declared a winner.

I've enjoyed playing games ever since I was a kid (which was a long long time ago at this point). It all started off with an Atari 65XE, then came an Amiga 500+, a Sega Genesis, a 386, and the rest was history. I consider myself lucky to have been able to experience the gaming evolution over the years - this is my passion, and what I will continue to do for as long as I can.
