What do you get it if you combine a bullet hell shooter with monkeys? Bloons Supermonkey 2 - that's what.

It does what it says on the tin. You're a superhero monkey and have to shoot waves of bloons, collect power-ups, and try and get three stars in every level. You know the drill.

We'll have the full PG review with you shortly, but in the meantime you can enjoy these critical comments from our mobile games experts in the App Army.

James Rooney

So far so good! It's not unlike other shoot 'em ups, but it seems to be more aimed at kids. I love the idea of popping bloons. It's very polished and blends RPG mechanics in. It's fun.

Tobias Taylor

This is pretty good! I like the sound of the popping balloons, and the graphics and upgrade system are great.

I love it when there are over 100 balloons on your screen and you frantically pop them. For some reason it's quite relaxing.

Chanandler

Not a bad little game. I've played the first level and didn't die at all suggesting that it's geared towards a younger audience but I may be wrong.

I love the sound effects. There seems to be a good progression system with the upgrades and boosts but I'm not a fan of the IAP - especially two types of paid currency!

Chase Geier

You really can't fail levels. The only point is to play to upgrade. It's fun but there's no challenge - unlike the other bloon games, which can get VERY difficult.

Kainen Ryan

I'm starting to really enjoy this thanks to its RPG-style upgrades system and colourful graphics. It's a fun game with a lot going for it.

Laura Egri

Though nothing can beat Chicken Invaders, this is a close second. It's fun to play and as you buy more power-ups it offers spectacular shooting effects and bloons-popping satisfaction. It handles smoothly and can easily become addictive.

Tom Clark

I'm really enjoying this. It has great graphics and is a throwback to Galaga. The one issue is that you can't really lose, which takes some of the fun out of it.

The only real challenge is to see if you can get gold for each level. I'd say this one's a keeper for time wasting once on in a while.

Oksana Ryan

What a great little game. I found myself enjoying bursting balloons on a massive scale and there's even a mad scientist who creates power ups. The graphics are good and there are some cool balloon shapes to shoot down such as large parrots and helicopters.

There's not a great deal of challenge but sometimes I like to pick up a game and just waste half an hour and this one fits the bill.

Tony Teulan

This is a high score chaser with some nice graphics and an arcade feel. There really isn't any challenge but we play games primarily an escapism and that's something this does very well.

Wesley Tee

This has cute graphics and gameplay that can keep you occupied for hours. It's easy to play and the power ups are fun.

The sound of popping a bunch of balloons at once is incredibly satisfying.
