Gory runner Blood Roofs has just scooped up the girl, leapt into the air, and cleared a swathe of slavering creatures to land on iPhone and iPad.

In a setup that's sure to make feminists everywhere weak at the knees, the bare-chested (and suitably glistening) Jake must carry the wounded (and equally glistening) Catherine to safety across the rooftops of the city.

Problem is, there's a ghoulish assortment of slavering monsters on their tail, who are just desperate to turn both parties into a shrieky amuse-bouche.

Though the launch trailer (below) for Gamesmold's Blood Roofs is as subtle as a knee to the nadgers, the creatures do look pretty spectacular, betraying more than a hint of Lovecraftian influence.

There's an additional string to this runner's bow in the form of Catherine's gun, which players must use (while guiding Jake) to keep the nasties at bay.

Featuring tilt and touchscreen controls, plus Game Center and iCloud support, Blood Roofs is available from the App Store for £1.99 / $2.99 now.
