One-man development team Max Bode has dropped us a line to announce his debut iPhone game Mega Blast Zone will be on the App Store soon.

Playing as an evil supervillain, you guide a bomb towards major cities and landmarks in order to cause the most destruction possible.

The top-down gameplay broadly echoes the dodge-and-collect style of Hungry Fish, so that you manoeuvre the bomb into power-ups and away from planes and other obstacles.

What really impresses us, however, is the look and sound of the thing. In the trailer below, you can see that Blast Zone Mega resembles a game from one of those old flat arcade tables in the corner of pubs, complete with hypnotically repetitive midi beat.

The game was submitted to Apple yesterday, so we shouldn't have to wait too long to get our hands on it.
