Strange Windows Phone exclusive Beards and Beaks lands on Zune Marketplace
There's no place like gnome
The first product of Microsoft’s internal games team (yes, it hasn’t sold them all off just yet) has arrived on Windows Phone today, but don't go in expecting just a rehash of a pre-existing game.
Instead, feast your eyes on Beards & Beaks: a game that features flicking gnomes (the beards) into sets of gems, and beating up square birds (the beaks). Pretty standard stuff, then.
It sort of plays out like a simple real-time strategy game, in which carrying the gems makes your units defenceless against the beaks of doom, forcing you to group your gnomes together to punch the living daylights out of the feathered freaks.
The trial seems quite nicely put together, with a jazzy soundtrack and the prerequisite helium-voiced gnomes, but we’ll see how well it stacks up in the long run a little later this week.
If you can’t wait until then, you can buy the game now from the Zune Marketplace for £2.49.
