Gameloft is the latest big budget game development house to turn its attentions toward the lower end of the App Store market, targeting the casual arena with a new budget-priced iPhone game.

The French gaming giant is due to release Bailout Wars, which satirises the economic collapse by requiring players to defend the White House against greedy bankers attempting to get their hands on tax payers' money.

This new switch toward lowest pricing tier games brings Gameloft in line with several other large studios also dabbling in the shallow end of the iPhone pool.

Gameloft recently announced a 20 per cent increase in its revenues for Q2, which is mostly thanks to its recent focus on the iPhone - presumably prompting it to begin exploring all aspects of App Store profitability.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
