New Assassin’s Creed multiplayer game ‘coming soon’

UPDATE: A spokesperson for Ubisoft has told us that Assassin's Creed II Multiplayer "will be hitting the App Store shortly."

That leads us to believe the game will be available for play on iPhone and iPod touch within the month.

Original story: Following hot on the heels of the iPhone version of Assassin’s Creed 2: Discovery, UbiSoft’s US website today carried an intriguing new addition to the series.

Assassin’s Creed: Multiplayer, not the most original title but we’ll let that pass for now, looks to be a top-down, 4-player stealth-a-thon, featuring power-ups, achievements and online leaderboards.

Rather than the side-on perspective of the previous title, AC:M takes the GTA, top-down approach to things. Don’t expect to be stealing carts and performing tasks for mobsters, though.

It’s not yet clear how the game will play out but the mention of ‘blending into the crowd of citizens’ to assassinate your fellow players sounds like an exciting prospect.

UbiSoft has put the release date as ‘coming soon’, which is frustratingly vague, but we’ll keep you informed when it arrives on the App Store.
