Asphalt 3 goes 3D

Gameloft's street racer gets its graphics pimped up

Asphalt 3 goes 3D

Of all the mobile game genres you could take 3D, racing titles are probably one of the most suitable. Driving in three dimensions is clearly better than two, as shown by Glu's rather spiffing Project Gotham Racing and EA Mobile's Need For Speed Carbon in recent times.

Gameloft is set to take those games on head-to-head with its latest title. It's a 3D version of its existing racer Asphalt 3: Street Rules, which we gave a stonkingly positive review to last year.

Asphalt 3: Street Rules 3D is looking pretty spectacular as you can see from the screenshots above. Like the 2D version, it's a street racer that sees you out-accelerating rivals while keeping clear of the police's clutches, and strutting your stuff for helicopter-mounted TV cameras.

The game will have 14 different tracks spread across seven cities, and there'll be nine cars and three motorcycles to take control of – all based on real-world models.

The game's available to buy on Gameloft's own website now, so expect it to be on the operator portals imminently.
