OptiFlight is an interesting take on the strategy mobile genre. Here, you're not fighting enemies, spreading illnesses, or directing armies, none of that – your goal is instead to direct air traffic and make sure flights reach their destination. So if you ever wanted to be an air traffic controller, here's your sample size of it.

Scheduling flights is a huge aspect of the game. By scheduling, you need to make sure that each flight is going off at the proper times, or there might be some confusion. This is especially important when flights are heading overseas from the United States, for example, considering the distance of the trip.

The game's aesthetic looks very simple in that you see a bunch of lines with different colours on a map. As you likely guessed, the lines are each plane's flight pattern.

This actually looks pretty cool, as the map shows the exact spots of most cities in the world, and different colours of the lines seem pleasing to the eyes. However, OptiFlight is not going to be a walk in the park when it launches.

For starters, you have to make sure no flight intersects with another, which is common sense, but if you aren't careful, you'll fail the job. You also have to take weather conditions into account as well and determine whether it's safe to fly or not.

With all of these decisions to keep in mind, it makes for an interesting brain workout. It's also a unique view on the strategy sim genre.

One of the cool features you can expect to see is the ability to test your air trafficking skills around the time of certain events such as the Olympics. There's no word on what other events will be included, but one has to imagine that the World Cup, Super Bowl, or The Masters could be possibilities.

OptiFlight is scheduled to release on March 18, exclusively for iOS.
