Following a stint in beta, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is available now for iOS. It's mind-boggling to think that Gwent started as a merely a part of The Witcher 3 and it's now it's become a massive entity in its own right that, as of today you can play on your phone.
It's a fairly simple game in concept, which is probably why it's done so well. You can play any card that's in your hand without any mana restrictions, though you can only play one per turn. This means you could start the game with your most powerful unit or save them for later on.
It's played over three rounds meaning a lot of strategies is involved in deciding where and when to play certain cards. There's two different rows for melee and ranged cards and you simply have to have more points than your opponent to clinch a round, win two rounds and you've won the match. It's certainly not hard to understand at a base level but you'll be surprised by how many different tactics are actually involved with Gwent.
If you're an existing player of Gwent and the PC has been your platform of choice, then you'll be able to carry your progress over to the iOS version of the game. Sadly, the same doesn't apply for those who've sunk time into the Xbox One or PS4 version of the game.
