App Army Assemble: Inklings

A work of art

App Army Assemble: Inklings

| Inklings

Inklings! is essentially Lemmings set on a hand painted art canvas. You have to help get your Inkling friends to safety using a number of different mechanics including a portal gun and gravity switch.

The levels feature real works of art by the likes of Kandinsky and Monet alongside drawings made by children and amateur artists.

Not only are these puzzles pretty difficult to solve, there's an optimal route you can take. So there's extra challenge for those who are up to it.

The full PG review will be in shortly but, in the meantime, you can discover what our hardened recruits in the App Army made of it below.

The visuals are amazing, with art styles ranging from charcoal sketches, to childish drawings, and real paintings. You have to direct your Inklings from point A to point B using physics to help you.

It's similar to Lemmings, with mechanics like munching through drawings, launching from rotating or moving platforms, manipulating the elements, and traveling through portals.

The levels are cleverly designed and quite challenging. It can get frustrating at times but overall I enjoyed it.

Olivier Boesch

Lemmings in drawings and paintings! The idea is good and the gameplay is addictive. It's fairly simple in design, but the puzzles are quite complex.

On iPad Mini, the action bar is a bit small but functional. It's a better experience on the larger iPads.

Tony Teulan

A solid game which wears its Lemmings inspiration on its sleeve, and even makes a small effort to evolve the genre. Yes it can be tricky but it plays so well on the platform.

The visuals are beautiful and backed with decent sound. Looking forward to seeing more added to this game, even as an IAP. I want to give them more money.

I love the visuals here - the style is great. It's like a modern version of Lemmings. I'm finding the levels quite a challenge though - it could be my fat fingers or maybe I just need more practice.

Some of the levels really get your brain working. I like how you can make holes in the picture to help get the Inklings to the exit.

While it lacks the humour of Lemmings, this game been a joy to play.

The neat mechanics and clever level design make each puzzle entertaining and challenging. Though the controls can be fiddly at times, it never affected my enjoyment.

There's nothing here that's particularly groundbreaking or new, but it's a solid puzzler with great level design and a decent soundtrack.

I've loved every second spent with Inklings! and will return if they ever introduce new levels.

Inklings! is a pretty solid game. It might not have the best graphics, the most unique gameplay, or the best music, but it's a fun experience.

I'm always up for a good puzzler, and I felt right at home with Inklings!. It's pretty challenging as you'll need to carefully plan out your moves and execute them with perfect timing.

Inklings! Is an addictive physics puzzler with gorgeous graphics. It's mixture of Lemmings and Portal, with brilliant level design and addictive gameplay.
