Anki Overdrive is now out in the US and Canada, hits the UK on October 6th
Slot-car racing evolved
Anki Overdrive is now out in the US and Canada. But, more importantly, it'll be available in the UK on October 6th.
What is it? Are you kidding me? It's a physical slot-car racer with AI-driven cars. It's relevant to us as you control the cars with a free iOS and Android app (available on the App Store and Google Play).
Compared with the previous version, Anki Drive, Overdrive has improved AI so that they can race across custom-made tracks.
Before you could only race on Anki's pre-designed tracks. Plus, there are new Supercars that can be upgraded with weapons and gadgets.
So how much does this all cost? Brace yourself.
The Anki Overdrive Starter Kit sells for £149.99 / $150 and includes two super cars, 10 track pieces, a four-car charger, two risers, and a tyre cleaning kit.
Expansion track packs and accessories cost between £9.99 / $10 and £29.99 / $30 per pack. While the little robotic Supercars retail at £49.99 / $50.
Probably good for a Christmas pressie, right? Anyway, all of this is purchasable on Anki's website.
