The least pocket-sized of Google’s announcements last night was the Nexus Player, an Android TV-powered set-top box that gives you the Android experience on the biggest screen in your house.

The box is powered by a Silvermont quad-core processor that’s clocked at 1.8GHz. It sports a PowerVR series 6 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage. There is a microUSB port, so hopefully that storage will be expandable.

Most interestingly from a gaming point of view is the controller that Google is selling separately. It’s a big lump of black plastic and it means you’ll basically be able to play your Android games on your TV. As long as the buttons work.

You can preorder the Nexus Player from October 17th, and it should be available from November 3rd. In the US, at least. The device will set you back $99, and the controller an extra $39.

If any of that has tickled your fancy, you can get more information about the Nexus Player by following this link right here.
