Google is set to pay back $19 million worth of in-app purchases after reaching a settlement with the US Federal Trade Commission.

The repayments are due to the lack of password protection for purchases when the Play Store launched in 2011, and a lack of information about the 30 minute no-password purchase window that occurred after making purchases.

It's less than the $32 million Apple had to pay back at the start of the year, and comes after Google's decision to follow the recommendation of the European Commission and stop marking free to play games as free.

Apparently the FTC will be getting in touch with people who made IAPs on the Google Play Store to explain how they can get a slice of the payout.
