Might & Magic: Duel of Champions card game heading to iPad
Might & Magic: The Gathering
The Might & Magic series is one of those franchises that seems to reinvent itself with each successive iteration, starting out as a straight RPG before branching into turn-based strategy and even Bejewelled-like tactical combat.
Now the old dog is once again pulling out a new trick, with Ubisoft announcing that a card game based on the long-running franchise, called Duel of Champions, will be heading to iPad and PC later this year.
Gather your partyMight & Magic: Duel of Champions is being developed by Ubisoft Quebec and features units taken directly from the world of Ashen (seen in Heroes V and VI), rather than the original universe.
iPad users will be able to battle their PC compatriots in cross-platform multiplayer, online tournaments to compete in, and extra cards will be available to purchase via an in-game store.
The screenshots seem to suggest the game will take a traditional Magic: The Gathering approach to the combat rather than the unusual real-time action seen in Ubi’s Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning Assassin’s Creed Recollection.
Might & Magic: Duel of Champions is currently in closed beta in France, but will be branching out across the world in the next few months.
