Six weeks after it debuted on Apple's iPad, OnLive's free desktop app for tablets is now available to download from the US Android Market.

This cloud-based PC desktop application enables Android tablet owners to instantly view, edit, and create documents using "full" versions of Microsoft's popular Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs.

And if you (or your family) happen to own both an iPad and an Android tablet, you'll be delighted to read that all of your OnLive Desktop app files are kept in sync across the two devices instantly and seamlessly.

Live and direct

"Android tablets are a great platform for OnLive Desktop," Steve Perlman, OnLive founder and CEO, says.

"With full HD resolution, PC keyboard / mouse support and available 4G LTE, Android tablets deliver an excellent experience with full Microsoft Office and Adobe Reader PC applications, not to mention gigabit-accelerated browsing through OnLive Desktop Plus - even over 4G LTE."

The free OnLive Desktop app is now available for Android tablets in the US. Once you sign up to the service, you are handed 2GB of free cloud storage.

Before you ask, by the way, the OnLive Desktop app for Android tablets will launch in the UK "soon". OnLive has also confirmed that its desktop app will soon be available for smartphones, PCs, Macs, TVs, and monitors.
