The 8th annual International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) took place in Barcelona today, with Chair Entertainment's graphical powerhouse Infinity Blade 2 proclaimed the Grand Prix winner.

The Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning slash-'em-up also won the individual category it was nominated in - Excellence in Gameplay - beating off strong competition from the likes of Death Rally and Contre Jour.

Mediocre's anything-but-mediocre Sprinkle hosed down pre-awards favourite Jetpack Joyride and The Blocks Cometh to win Best Casual Game, while the uniquely odd Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP walked away with the Most Innovative award in the face of stiff opposition from the likes of Supermono's Forever Drive.

The comic strip-cum-sports title Flick Tennis: College Wars walked back to the locker room with the People's Choice award, voted for by visitors to the official website of the event.

Going for gold

The International Mobile Gaming Awards, which are handed out on the final day of Mobile World Congress, are voted on by a panel made up of top industry officials and mobile journalists.

Judges this year included Pocket Gamer's own Chris James and Jon Jordan, as well as a dashingly handsome young deputy editor who may or may not be writing the article you're currently reading.
