Building on the news Square Enix's Final Fantasy is headed for DeNA's Mobage, both parties have today announced the game will officially launch in late December.

Final Fantasy Brigade – as it's now titled – will enter a round of beta testing midway through the month, before finally rolling out in Japan a couple of weeks later.

Brigade bound

"Final Fantasy Brigade allows Mobage users to enjoy the Final Fantasy universe through a simple gameplay while collaborating with others," the two firms said of the game in a statement.

"Each player owns an airship with which they can explore the Final Fantasy universe by forming an airship party with their friends. To make their airship parties stronger, players will earn experience points by completing quests.

"The game features elements that are familiar to Final Fantasy fans, such as monsters, jobs and abilities."

Square Enix has also already confirmed customers who pick up Final Fantasy Type-0 on PSP in Japan will be rewarded with 'in game benefits' in Final Fantasy Brigade.

More details – albeit in Japanese – can be found on DeNA's website.
