Namco Bandai bringing new RPG Digimon World Re:Digitize to the PSP in 2012

Namco Bandai is bringing the world of Digimon to Sony's dated PSP handheld in Digimon World Re:Digitize.

Touted as a 'Digital Growth RPG', the game lets you jump into the shoes of a 14-year-old motorcycle fanatic who gets himself stuck in a strange digital world. What other kind is there?

With the use of a special shoulder-mounted device, you can interact with Digimon, recruit them as your companions, build them up into powerhouses, and battle away.

Your first partner in crime is everybody's favourite yellow dinosaur Agumon, who later evolves into the ultra-cool Nova Blasting Greymon.

Although details of the game's story are scarce, it's said to be set in a strange space where real and cyber worlds merge.

Screenshots in magazine V Jump show a behind-the-shoulder view.

A full announcement of Digimon World Re:Digitize is expected this week, so we'll hopefully have some more information for you then.

Expect the game to hit shelves some time in 2012.
