Famed Angry Birds publisher Chillingo has announced a partnership with developer MetroGames to create several titles for Apple's range of iOS devices.

The first of these outings will be a new mobile version of MetroGames's Facebook title Pixel Ranger, which sees you face off against a horde of invaders.

Armed with a trusty rifle, you have to navigate moving platforms, disappearing ledges, and sticky goo, collecting ammo along the way.

Finally, after shooting 'til your fingers bleed, you're put through the true test - local, world, weekly, monthly, and all-time leaderboards.

Freemium for all

A number of social - presumably freemium - titles will also be created, and MetroGames's CEO Damian Harburger believes the partnership can significantly expand his company's App Store presence, which already includes puzzler Plock.

"By combining our game development capabilities and creativity along with Chillingo’s impressive marketing and distribution strategies, we aim to duplicate our success on Facebook to the mobile category," Harburger said.

With Chillingo recently passing 140 million downloads across all iOS platforms, it may be a particularly smart move on MetroGames's part.
