Sony: an NGP as powerful as a PS3 'would probably set fire to your pants'

Sony is rumoured to have told developers prior to the official NGP announcement that the device would be as powerful as the PS3.
No smoke without fire? In a way, no: SCEA platform research manager David Coombes has revealed that if the NGP were as powerful as the PS3 there would be an actual fire. On your trousers.
Coombes told Kotaku, "Well, it's not going to run at 2GHz because the battery would last five minutes... and it would probably set fire to your pants."
Unless that's what you're into, it's probably a good thing that the NGP sits "halfway" between the original PSP and the PS3 in terms of speed.
