Analyst Michael Pachter: 3DS will outsell PSP2

Industry analyst and quote for hire Michael Pachter has cast his analytic eyes over the coming handheld console wars and, despite Sony staying mum on PSP2, has already decided on the winner.

Apparently the battle will be “Kinect vs Move all over again”. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 peripheral exploded in the sales charts, with over 8 million devices sold. Sony’s Wii-style wand hasn’t done so well, and is lagging far behind its controller-free opponent.

“Kinect is outselling Move because Kinect is new and different, while Move is very similar to the Wii,” Pachter told IncGamers. “I think that the 3DS will outsell the PSP2, because the 3DS is new and different, while the PSP2 is likely going to be a souped up version of the old PSP.”

“Thus, I think that 3DS will have greater success in capturing the consumer’s imagination.”

The crystal ball gazer isn’t the most accurate analyst out there, he’s just the most vocal. He’s previously said EA will buy Take Two, PS3 will outsell Xbox 360, iPhone isn’t a viable gaming platform and dolphins would overtake humans as the dominant life-form on Earth.
