If you thought the line drawing genre had sunk into the distant past of App Store fashion, then think again.

UK developer PTK Learning, together with US publisher Appular, is attempting to trace a line back from entertainment to your iTunes account with the release of Exclusion Zone: Anti-Air Warfare.

Patriot lock on

As the name makes clear, this is a combative take on the experience, with you attempting to guard landing strips, aircraft carriers and helipads by drawing the paths of anti-aircraft missiles so that they collide with the incoming fighter jets, stealth bombers and attack choppers.

Bonus weapons such as electromagnetic pulses and homing missiles become available, while you can keep track of your tally thanks to OpenFeint integration with leaderboards and achievements.

PTK Learning, which has previously been involved in war simulation exercises, says it will be supporting the game with new maps and weapons on a monthly basis.

In addition, Appular is giving away three $50 Visa gift cards randomly to players who shoot down more than 100 enemy craft. For more information on how to enter the contest and complete rules and regulations, please visit Appular's Facebook page.

Exclusion Zone: Anti-Air Warfare is out now for iPhone and iPod touch, priced 99c, €0.79 or 59p.
