Asus confirms $399 Android Eee Pad, also announces two Windows 7 tablets
Won't be available until 2011 though
The tablet market is hot at the moment, despite the only options being the iPad, Dell's Android-powered Streak and a variety of Archos devices.
One PC manufacturer that will be in vanguard is Asus, and it's just announced dates, prices and new hardware too.
First to market - December or January 2011 - will be its Windows 7-based EP121.
It's a 12-inch tablet priced at $1,000 and targeted firmly at the high end laptop market.
Gimmee Eeee PadMore interesting for the mass market will be the Android-based 10-inch Eee Pad EP101TC. It's expected to cost under $399 and be available in March 2011.
Like all Asus tablets, it will come with support for Flash 10.1, a camera and USB ports - features lacking from the current generation of iPads.
Asus also surprised analysts by announcing another Eee Pad, this time a Windows 7 variant with a 10-inch screen and circa $499 price point. It's expected in January 2011.
