Nintendo has patented a number of terms that appear to relate to its forthcoming 3DS handheld.

CrossPass, along with such extended terms as CrossPass Mode, CrossPass Network, and CrossPass Connection, have all been bagsied by the Kyoto firm.

While the nature of CrossPass remains unconfirmed, it seems likely to be related to the 3DS’s announced wireless communication capabilities.

The device will be able to communicate and exchange data with other 3DS units even when not in use, or when the devices are playing different games.

Nintendo has also registered trademarks for what appear to be new games (or possibly games within a 3D collection). 3D Paddleball, 3D Challenge, and 3D Hopper have all been reserved by the company, as has Target Shooting, which was demoed at E3.
