Samsung has aimed a couple of cheeky digs at the iPhone 4 in a bid to push forward its own Galaxy S device as a viable alternative.

Referencing the rival device’s recent signal woes, an ad for the Android-powered smartphone uses the universal three-bar signal icon in the word “Hello”. Ouch.

Samsung UK has continued with this opportunistic, hit ‘em while they’re down campaign by offering several disgruntled iPhone 4-owning Twitterers a free Galaxy S each.

A spokesman for the company told Wired: “Recently there has been a real increase in online activity from consumers dissatisfied with some of our competitors’ products. We decided to contact a cross section of individuals to offer them a free Samsung Galaxy S as a replacement, as we’re confident that once people have the phone in their hands, they’ll see how impressive it is for themselves.”

Isn’t that thoughtful of them?
