Apple announces iPad won't get OS 4.0 until the autumn
Leaves on the line
While Apple has announced iPhone and iPod users will be able to enjoy the benefits of the iPhone 4.0 software update this summer, iPad owners won't have access to the litany of features it includes until the autumn.
No statement has been issued explaining why there's a delay, but it will mean that early adopters of Apple’s new tablet won't have access to features such as multitasking or integrated mailboxes.
Of course, the iPad already has iBooks, and there can’t be many consumers desperate to see iAds added to their experience.
The ETA of the social gaming Games Center is uncertain for both platforms anyhow.
Nevertheless, the additional functionality could be an important selling point when attempting to convert the undecided to splash out $499+.
Perhaps the sheer novelty of having an iPad will allow current owners to put this thought to the back of their minds while they sit back and enjoy Flight Control HD...
