Dedicated iPad apps get their own section on the App Store

Apple's iPad became available for pre-order in the US yesterday (not in the UK, sadly, but there are means of obtaining one if you're desperate). One of the things to emerge from this epochal event is a confirmation from Apple that there will be a dedicated section for iPad apps on the App Store.

Although most iPhone apps will run on the iPad right out of the box, using a pixel doubling method to upscale the graphics, a special section makes the most of the new device.

“Browse a section of the store that features apps designed specifically for iPad. You’ll find hundreds that make the most of its large display, responsive performance, and Multi-Touch interface.”

This is clearly excellent news for the developers of iPad optimised games, such as Zen Bound 2, Flight Control, and all the others.
