Nintendo has a lot to talk about at the moment, thanks to the launch of its bigger, better DSi XL (LL in Japan), plus new games, and maybe even a DS 2.

For the present however it's sticking to first half of 2010 for its announcements; which are being made today in the US and tomorrow for Europe via its Spring press conferences.

The headline news in terms of the DSi XL is that it will launch in North America on 28th March, priced $189.99.

A DSi currently retails in the US for $170, with a DS Lite going for $130.

What's perhaps more significant in terms of the DSi XL's bigger screens and the current vogue for e-readers like the Kindle and the iPad, is that Nintendo is also releasing its excellent 100 Classic Books cartridge to the US for the first time. It came out in Europe way back in late 2008.

We'll be interested to see if Nintendo releases a new version for Europe, or makes more books accessible via the DSi Shop.
