Nokia's London flagship store to close

Not profitable

Nokia's London flagship store to close

High profile high street stores are a big part of company image for the electronics firms at the moment, with Microsoft going face-to-face with Apple in the US and Nokia having opened a stylish flagship store in London's Regent Street just two years ago.

The Finnish company has announced that its grand UK store front will now close, however, stating that it's, "not been as efficient or as profitable as we’d have liked it to", leaving its 30 staff job hunting on the run up to Christmas.

The statement does point out that the decision hasn't been made lightly, and it's easy to imagine how a shop on such prime retail ground has to bring in a regular fortune just to keep the doors open.

Hopefully, Nokia's online Ovi Store will soon begin to perform better than its high street presence.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
