Gameloft acquires mobile game rights for Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes film

But will it be able to solve The Curse of the Licensed Game?

Gameloft acquires mobile game rights for Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes film

Gameloft has won the rights to produce a mobile game tie-in for the forthcoming Sherlock Holmes film from Warner Brothers.

Gameloft has gained global rights for developing, publishing and distributing the accompanying game, which will be released prior to the film’s Christmas release.

The mobile gaming behemoth has pedigree when it comes to making decent games out of film and TV licenses, so fingers crossed that repeating the trick will be elementary, dear Watson.

The film will star Robert Downey Jnr as the opium-quaffing detective (an inspired piece of casting), with Jude law playing the role of faithful side-kick Watson.

It's being directed by Guy Ritchie of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels fame, but expectations of Britain’s premier fictional detective spouting lines such as “you’re nicked, you ******* muppet!” are hopefully unfounded.
