WiiWare is becoming more popular than boxed titles lately, thanks to the cheaper price tags and simpler distribution. And, coupled with the phenomenal success of the iPhone's App Store, it's no wonder developers are keen to see a similar service established on the DSi.

After its hit WiiWare title Lit, and the forthcoming revival of A Boy and His Blob, it seems developer WayForward is set to blaze a new trail with its first venture into DSiWare, brilliantly entitled Mighty Flip Chimps.

The game looks like a classically styled platform puzzler, in which the female character Alta flips through the action like the pages of a book. Unusual stuff, but that's exactly what the DSi needs to get itself properly established - a bit of intrigue in its software.

With further talk of developers considering launching their older DS titles as DSiWare downloads, this could be the deciding factor when it comes to the success or failure of Nintendo's hardware updates.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
