Cautious as we are when it comes to unsubstantiated rumours, here's one we felt encouraged to spread just a little further. According to sources at EETimes.com (via Kotaku), British chip manufacturer (no, not King Edwards) Imagination is likely to be supplying the graphics processor to Sony for the PSP2.

Although we don't know who the source is or how reliable they are, Imagination (which supplied the graphics processor for the iPhone, by the way) did indeed announce that it's recently signed a deal with a major international consumer electronics company.

Notwithstanding the tasty concept pic - made by a talented fan earlier this year and displayed above - that's about as far as the rumour goes, though it's nice to put the thought of a PSP sequel to the fore every now and then. Redesigns of old hardware (such as the PSP 3000) have been the herald of many a new games machine in the past, after all.

Dream about it, but don't lose any sleep just yet.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
