Gameloft has announced a couple of games for DS - one of which sounds suspiciously like a certain other very popular game you might have heard of.

Guitar Rock Tour – which is bound to cause a few tantrums this Christmas when confused parents mistaken it for the Guitar Hero: On Tour game little Timmy's requested in his letter to Santa – is a music simulation game in which you get to play guitar and drum instruments along to a range of songs.

Its track-list includes Avril Lavigne's 'Girlfriend' and Sum 41's 'Underclass Hero', as well as more ancient pop hits such as The Police's 'Message in a Bottle'. It's not clear if those will be the original recordings, but we'd guess not because the artists aren't name-checked on the game's press release.

The second game announced is Real Soccer 2009, described as the 'definitive soccer title' designed specifically for DS.

It will feature touchscreen controls, 198 teams with real players' names, 3D graphics and dynamic AI opposition. It's got a fair bit of competition with the likes of FIFA 09 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 already out there, but then there's always room for another footie game - in Europe at least.

Both games have been announced as coming to DS in the US this November. There's no news on the UK release but we'll let you know as soon as one is confirmed.
