Peter Molyneux has been speaking about the DS in an interview with Joystiq, most interestingly about the chances of his studio - the Microsoft-owned Lionhead - making a game for the handheld.

When asked if he thought Microsoft would allow such a thing in the wake of Rare (also owned by Microsoft) developing Viva Piñata: Pocket Paradise, Molyneux said:

"We're not doing anything like that, but if we had a good case for something like that I think it would be taken seriously. DS is a very interesting system. If we were to do something on it, I'd take a serious look at doing something unique with the stylus and touch screen mechanics."

He then went on to say, "I think the best game on the system is Phantom Hourglass by a long, long way. It's just such an amazing achievement."

Peter Molyneux is the brain behind several big-name - mainly PC - games - including Black & White, Populous, The Movies and Fable. His studio is also currently working on a mystery game, the chances of which being on DS are slim to none, but perhaps a DS spin-off could be on the cards some time in the future? We can only hope.
