Finally, it seems like Capcom has run out of Japanese people to flog Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G to. After more than two months of near-continuous domination of the nation's software chart top spot, and over two-million copies sold, Monster Hunter has finally been relegated to fifth position in this week's charts.

However, Sony isn't going to be disappointed with the charts as a result. And that's because another PSP game has taken the top spot in 2nd G's place. Konami's newly released Powerful Pro Baseball Portable 3 is now Japan's best-selling game, while a third PSP game – Valhalla Knights 2 – also makes it into the top ten, sitting in eighth position.

Basically, despite continued criticism (the latest of which emerged only today from publishing heavyweight Ubisoft), the PSP and its software continues to sell phenomenally well in Japan. So while Monster Hunter finally looks to be on its way out, it looks like PSP could continue to manage fine in its homeland without it.
