DS trounces PSP at retail

DS + PSP

Oh, how the Ninty fanboys love this kind of headline. Probably about as much as they hate being tricked into clicking on this kind of article.

You know the type: balanced, objective and fair.

You see, taken at face value, one look at the handheld release schedule over the next week and the fact that DS titles vastly outnumber those coming to PSP is undeniable. But making any kind of assumption based on quantity without evaluating quality is more than a little silly.

And when you examine the DS output using that criterion, all of a sudden things aren't so convincingly one-sided. That's not to say Nintendo's handheld hasn't got some decent content on its way in the next eight days, but proportionally speaking, it's the PSP that impresses most over the same period, with the kind of forthcoming heavy hitters that DS should find difficult to counter.

At least this time around. Give it another week and the tables may well have turned. And if that's the case, we'll obviously say so – you'll find no favouritism here.
