Ubisoft spells out plans for DS Scrabble

Nintendo keeps telling us about the huge number of grey-haired oldies who have bought the DS, so we suppose it makes sense for Ubisoft to release a version of Scrabble to give the brains of said demographic an extra workout after they're had their daily hands-on with the professor.

Scrabble: New Edition promises six modes, including Anagram, Enigma, Crossagram and Junior. The Duplicate mode, as used in official championships, is also available should you feel the need to get all professional, while an in-game coach provides advice to improve your choice of vocabulary and the Collins Official Scrabble Dictionary provides backup when it comes to the Scrabble word canon.

Of course, what will be most important, at least in the single-player option, is the quality of the computer-controlled artificial intelligence. It's been validated by Franck Maniquant, the world champion of French Scrabble and 2001 Champion of France, so everything should be très bien.

Scrabble: New Edition is due to be released on October 5th.
