Horse Riding Academy trots onto mobile

Gameloft's newie looks like a whinny to us!

Horse Riding Academy trots onto mobile

I love horses. Best of all the animals. I love horses. They're my friends... I'm singing an infamous advert jingle from last year, by the way. I haven't gone mad. Really.

Gameloft apparently loves horses too – the publisher's latest mobile game is called Horse Riding Academy. As you'd guess from the name, it's part virtual pet game and part sports sim.

You play a girl who's been accepted into a prestigious horse-riding academy, and so you have to get to know your horse, train it up, and make it to the top as an equestrian champion. (Or mess things up and watch your equine chum get carted off to the abattoir to make Horsey Twizzlers, obviously.)

The game includes tournaments and also special challenges, such as rescuing the academy's missing mascot. There are also one-thumb mini-games where you brush, clean and feed your horse. It's all set in England, Mexico and Japan.

Horse Riding Academy is aimed at young girls, not surprisingly, and however much some of you feel like scoffing, there are plenty of them out there with mobile phones, and not many games targeting them.

The game's available now, and we'll have a glossy review stamping its feet for you soon.
